Marketing Your Commercial Printing Company
You have set up your commercial printing operations already. You have high-tech and modern machines that can make good quality materials at a very fast rate. You have complete equipment from the processing to the printing to the finishing of materials. You have everything that any commercial printer would be envious about.
But despite all that you have, it seems that you are not making that much business. You think that you could still improve and have better sales but sadly, that is not what you are experiencing. There are days when your commercial printing machines only run a few hours or none at all. When your machines don’t run, that means your people are not doing anything and you are just paying for their idle time at work as well as the electricity. You cannot let them go home and not pay them because that would be against the labor code.
Now, you wonder, what seems to be the problem? What are you doing wrong? Have you look into your marketing strategies for your commercial printer?
Many businesses do formulate a business plan when they start up a business. They include capitalization, loans, operating costs, and many other things but they fail to include the advertising and marketing plan. And that includes the budget for them.
When you start a printing company, it is like any other business that needs to be promoted. After all, how can people go to your office even if they need your services if they don’t know that you even existed?
What are some of the things that you can do? For one, you can hire one or two marketing people. They can be retained to become your sales executive or you can just hire them for a month or two just to market your new print shop while you are still starting. If you have a medium- to large-scale printing business, it would be good to retain them and let them serve as both advertising and marketing personnel. Their job will be to go different institutions and offices to promote their services. If there are jobs that come in, they will also serve to entertain the needs of these clients. Aside from their salaries, you may need to give them incentives for every new business that they bring in so that they will be encouraged to work. Or you can give them a quota so that they will work hard to reach it.
When you open your shop you can send a press release to your local media, like the newspaper and the TV or radio station for an announcement. This is usually a free service. Additionally, you may place ads on the paper announcing your opening. You can get your suppliers to donate some amount to augment your advertising expenses. Or you can ask them to place like a greeting ad on the paper of any size so that you will have extra mileage during your opening day. The more companies that will greet you will mean more ad pages. When a lot of people will greet your new company in the paper, the readers will surely notice that there is a new business. Make sure that each ad contains your contact details.
While you can spend for your advertising and marketing, you could also promote your business for free. Know what will work for your locality and for your commercial printing business. Know how best you can reach out to your potential clients so that you will become a successful commercial printer in no time.
