2012 Hyundai Elantra: All-new value
2012 Hyundai Elantra is a combo of the six highlights joining the seven major enhancements that Hyundai packed into 2011 Elantra. Steering in 2012-Elantra has been re-calibrated to give better on-center feel; apart much less driving-effort required, you feel that this all-new Elantra responds readily. Revamped rear-suspension cushions much better, even on the roads that differ from picture books. Active eco-system improving fuel-economy, larger trunk (only slightly larger – the 2011 trunk was already enlarged,) fog lights and when you need to make some sound, there is dual-shell horn.
As Elantra’s 2011 developments are dovetailing into the all-new model, a recap would be helpful. What Hyundai did first was to adopt the fluidic sculpture design – the compact Elantra mimics Sonata’s design qualities and looks classier.
More powerful – 148 horsepower (10 hp more) from the 1.8-liter Nu four-cylinder engine is noteworthy; 2012 Hyundai Elantra does it when you are tackling gradients. Those who want to have a say in control, can select either the six-speed manual (M6CF3-1) or automatic (A6GF1) transaxle with SHIFTRONIC manual control. Manual shift also optimizes the engine performance with crisper shifts. Elantra-2012 has unique Vehicle Stability Management system providing additional counter-steering when braking on surfaces that are slippery on one side and dry on the other; also helps in sudden lane-changes.
Hyundai Elantra- 2012 and 2011 models are key-less starters; you can use the Push-Button start that actually senses the Key-fob (even if it is inside the pocket.) Automatic head-lights, rear-view mirror, in-dash touch-screen navigation system, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, iPod and USB inputs and finally the luxurious of all – leather seating, come as standard fixtures.
2011 Hyundai Elantra – GL is even more deluxe; it has a power Sunroof, heated rear seats and the coveted alloy wheels. When sitting inside the Elantra -GL, what you are bound to notice is that additional head-room even with the Sunroof.
2012 Hyundai Elantra has better economics – 29 mpg-city and 40mpg on highway is at least one mile more and it also costs less, about $1500 to $3600, than a few other cars in the class.
