Proper Disposal of Plastic Toner in Dallas
When laser printers were created, we got so happy because they print faster and can produce better quality printers than inkjet or worse, those ribbon printers. But while the black and colored laser printers are nice, there is the problem of toner disposal, especially by Dallas Printers. Those print shops and desktop printing companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth (or DFW) are always having this problem.
But it is good to know that DFW Printers now have the choice in how to conveniently dispose of their toner cartridges without harming Mother Earth.
When the old cartridge of a laser printer stops working or just runs out of powder, the most convenient thing that you can think of is to buy a new one and to throw the old one out. But if you throw away your toner cartridge, you may get rid of it and keep it from filling up your stockroom but it will still stay on as a plastic matter in a landfill for plastic wastes.
Now, you DFW residents should be happy to know that there is a more environment-friendly way of disposing these plastic toner cartridges that never decompose. It is not only convenient and free, but it can also save you some bucks. This is through recycling.
The recycling program was started by many local stores that sell office supplies. And you can take advantage of them. All you need to do is to take out the empty toner and bring it to their store in order to get some money back on it. You can get anywhere from $2 to $3 for every empty cartridge that you turn in. However, they do impose a limit on how many you can bring to their outlets per month because they keep a record. But the ceiling is so high that you could not possibly max it out within a month, unless you are running a desktop publishing company with several printer units that produces thousands of copies a day.
There are many such stores that offer the toner recycling program around the Dallas area, such as Staples and Office Depot. Or you may just browse the net for other options. Another option, but one where you will not get a cash-back, is to bring your empty cartridges at the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center. It may not give you some money but at least you help in saving the environment. That should be enough reason for you to do it.
But if you think that bringing a single cartridge to the store is too much effort and too time-consuming to earn back some few backs, then you do not have to go to the store for this purpose alone. Bring your empty cartridge in when you have business around the area so that you will not consume fuel for this purpose only and contribute to the pollution in the vicinity. Or you may want to call your neighbors and do them the favor of taking out their cartridge. Collect them all and earn some money from it. Plus you are doing them a favor.
Thankfully, Dallas Printers have this option of being able to dispose of their printer cartridges. They should be glad because some places do not have these recycling services for toners.
