Why are people Changing to Facebook Profile Picture Cartoons?

Wondering why most of your friends have suddenly changed their profile pictures to Facebook profile picture cartoons? Well, this latest fad has already gone viral on Facebook with a large number of users changing their profile pictures to cartoon images related to their childhood. The main objective of this campaign is to ensure that there are no human face profiles on Facebook and at the same time raise awareness amongst members against child abuse and violence.

Sometime back, many on Facebook would have received this message – “Change your profile picture to your favorite cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends also to do the same.” According to the update, the goal is to remove human pictures on Facebook and replace it with cartoons from your childhood memories.

Judging from the latest trends on Google and Twitter traffic, Facebook users seem to enjoying their walk down the memory lane and relive their childhood cartoons. Some of the hot searches on Google were for cartoon related phrases like “1990 cartoons,” “Cartoons from the 90s,” “muppet babies,” “bobby’s world” and a host of other cartoon related words / phrases.

According to some reports, the origin of this latest cartoon campaign seems to be from a group called Childhood Cartoon Faces. This group hopes to create awareness amongst members about violence against children by motivating the users to change to Facebook profile picture cartoons and do away with traditional human faces. The report goes on to say that the original message was in Greek and when translated it says “we shall change our profile pictures to our favorite cartoon characters.”

Though most Facebook users are not aware of who is behind this trend, they have changed to Facebook profile picture cartoons to show their solidarity in the fight against violence on children.
