Changing Facebook Profile Picture to Cartoon Characters
Sometime back there was a Facebook message that asked people to change their Facebook profile picture to cartoon characters in order to raise awareness amongst people about child violence. However, this was actually a scheme run by a group of pedophiles that intended to make children accept their friend requests.
In fact the claims in the message are completely false as is the suggestion that the campaign to change the Facebook profile picture to cartoon characters is a pedophile scheme. Though the exact origins of the message is not clear, the campaign has gone viral on this social networking site and is definitely intended to raise awareness about violence against children. In fact this campaign does not have any other motives.
Regular users of Facebook would have noticed that a large number of other members have changed their Facebook profile picture to cartoon characters during the last few months. It is not known where the campaign actually originated. According to a few reports, the campaign may have originated from amongst Facebook users in Cypress and Greece. It looks as if the whole campaign started off as a game without any specific goal in mind. However, at some stage it got converted into the current awareness campaign on violence against children.
From then on this campaign asking people to change their Facebook profile picture to cartoonhas taken the social networking world by storm and has been a source of inspiration for many Facebook users. Despite the fact that this campaign is not promoted by any child welfare group, there is one organization that has come out openly to support the cause. In fact the NSPCC has already asked Facebook users to support the cause by donating money and also changing their Facebook Profile to cartoon characters.
Finally, irrespective of their effectiveness, what emerges clearly is that this campaign is being backed by a strong desire to genuinely help.
