From LG.com UK: The Wi-Fi Direct Smartphone
In January this year, LG set a new standard in wireless connectivity when it showcased the first ever mobile demonstration of Wi-Fi Direct&™ at CES 2011 in Las Vegas.
With Wi-Fi Direct being available for the first time via the LG Optimus Black, available via LG.com UK, the leading technology offers hot spot free Wi-Fi connectivity, setting a new standard for on-the-go smartphone devices by connecting mobile devices directly and allowing users to share content with a touch of a button.
At the demonstration, attendees were given a sneak peak at how quick and easy it is to share content, videos and applications to fellow Wi-Fi enabled smartphones, without the need to be within a traditional Wi-Fi hotspot.
Sharing
Apart from being able to connect faster and easier than ever before; Wi Fi Direct also offers users ease of sharing, whether that be as a camera, via their appointment book/calendar, gaming or music playlist.
This improved technology enables users to send pictures direct from their smartphone to a printer, sync data between phones and PCs, as well as enjoy interactive games with other smartphone users – all without the need for a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company states: “Mobile content and applications are becoming increasingly diverse and people want to be able to share and enjoy them together without all the hassle of slow connections and running times,”
“By providing users with this advanced technology, LG is enhancing the user experience and helping people connect to one another through the content and features that mean the most.”

Apart from Wi-Fi Direct technology – what else can this smartphone offer?
Well, with a dramatically bright 4-inch LCD screen, this is one of the world’s thinnest and lightest Android Smartphones, creating a one-of-a-kind user experience.
Using LG’s NOVA display technology, the screen is designed to be the brightest, clearest and most readable amongst its fellow competitors’, allowing to see the screen easily in direct sun light, and allow for a ‘truer’ colour display when browsing the web.
The Optimus Black also offers the latest technology such as Wi-Fi Direct, a 2 MP front facing camera, lower-battery consumption and launches on Android 2.2 to allow access to over 150,000 apps.
