The LG Facebook Contest
In July this year, LG announced the launch of the Super-Capacity French-Door Refrigerator, offering the largest capacity of any 36-inch refrigerator available on the market today.
“Not only is this the largest capacity refrigerator we’ve introduced for the standard 36-inch footprint, but it also includes a variety of freshness features to improve the overall experience,” said John Weinstock, Vice President of Marketing at LG Electronics USA.
“Now, consumers have more space to store their groceries and a way to help keep them fresher longer, saving them time with fewer trips to the store and offering greater convenience from the most important appliance in the kitchen.”
Following July’s launch of the Super-Capacity French-Door refrigerator, LG announced the LG Ultimate Jelly Bean Count Contest; an online competition, or ‘social media campaign’ that takes a traditional form of contest to a modern, digital level.
The competition sees Facebook users guess how many jelly beans can fit inside the refrigerator. The prize-winner will receive a kitchen makeover, built around LG’s premium kitchen suite, valued at more than $6,500 (around £3,970).
Peter Reiner, senior vice president of marketing at LG Electronics USA, explains why they have used the popular social networking site as a way to build interest: “It’s easy for us to say our new super-capacity French-door refrigerator offers the largest capacity of any French-door refrigerator, but we felt it would be better to show consumers just how large 31-cubic feet of space is by using the popular jelly bean measurement method.”
How to enter
Running from August 11th to September 21st, you can enter via the LG USA Facebook page [facebook.com/LGUSA], click the ‘Like’ button at the top of the page, and watch the video explaining the competition and you’ll then be able to enter your three guesses.
Each week, a winner will be drawn at random from the pool of entrants, each receiving a $100 gift card. After six-weeks, the person with the closest guess to how many jelly beans can fit in the refrigerator, will be declared the winner.
Prizes
As mentioned before, the grand prize is an LG Ultimate Kitchen Makeover – including the new super-capacity French-door refrigerator, as well as other premium LG appliances.
