Dog as a companion is a great feeling. They are very loyal, huggable and very lovable. Owning a dog comes with a great responsibility. You need to feed them, keep them clean and most especially train them how to housebreak. However having a dog means responsibility too. They are not toy. They need to be fed and taken care of. It is the owner’s responsibility to feed, bathe and even training housedog. Dogs have needs that should also be met. They need food so feed them, they need to clean so bathe them, they also need to be trained. Remember a dog is also an animal. He is in a pack were members follow their leaders. As housedog feels that you are pleased, they will feel this.

Remember that puppies cannot control their bowel and bladder before they reach the age of 18 months old. So if you have younger puppy, expect it will be harder to train them. Having a younger puppy means having more patience.

Use positive reinforcement technique when housetraining your dog. Praising your dog is much better than physically punishing them. Whenever they do well, keep in mind to praise them or simply pat their head. When you caught them at the act of incidence, just simply say “no” firmly and bring the dog outside. Physically punishing the dog will just confuse them resulting to disobedience and low self-esteem. Remember that the dog wants to please their owner.

The secret and training a dog is consistency. Dog learns through repetition and routine. If you do it over again each day, he will live his life with these routines. You have to maintain a fixed time of the day when you will ring him outside. You could bring him outside after you wake up in the morning, after breakfast or after dinner. If possible use the same door when bringing him out, as he can remember this door and my scratch it as he feels the urge to eliminate. Choose a certain spot in your house where he could do his thing, as this place will stimulate him because of its smell.
