No excuses! Finding time when you have none with personal trainers
Personal trainers have sprung up all over the place, it seems. Why? Because people these days are trying to squeeze more than ever into their busy schedules. Between the demands of family life, keeping up with social events, career-boosting projects and the ever-growing list of domestic duties, sometimes keeping fit and healthy is not a high priority.
There are so many excuses to be made for neglecting your health, weight and diet, and many of us make them without realising the consequences lack of exercise can have on our wellbeing.
A lack of exercise can leave you feeling sluggish, heavy, depressed and tired, so it makes sense to include some physical activity – even just a little – into your daily routine. Choose the sofa over a stroll and you may be doing yourself some long term damage – you could even be subtracting years from your life!
Using your busy schedule as an excuse? Small changes can make the biggest difference. Get out of bed 10 minutes early and go for a bracing jog around the block. Jump off the train or bus several stops early and enjoy a brisk walk. Ignore the lift and take the stairs. Do push-ups whilst waiting for the kettle to boil! Stealing a few minutes here and there during the day to get active will really make the difference.
If you’re determined to make more of a concerted effort to get fit, even though you’re short on time, it’s time to find personal trainers in your area.
- Researching personal trainers who operate in your local area is pretty simple. Jump online and start searching – there’s bound to be plenty where you live. There’s usually one-on-one or group sessions to choose from, and these will differ in price.
- Find a fitness instructor who is qualified and trained, only deal with professionals. This is important, because if you’re given the wrong guidance, you may get injured.
- Most importantly, look for personal trainers who will come to you – in your home or a place that suits you – at a time that works for your schedule. If you don’t have to stick to strict fitness class timetables, group sessions and gym opening hours then you’ll be more likely to stick to your new fitness regime.
- Make sure you let your personal trainer know if you have pre-existing health problems or injuries. This will make it easier for them to tailor a fitness program to suit you. Also work with them to target your problem areas, you’ll get more value for money if you can see results in the areas that bug you.
- Book and pay for several regular sessions over the course of a month or so to encourage and motivate yourself to keep to your fitness goals.
