Home Pregnancy Test
Home pregnancy test is the first thing which women do after they suspect pregnancy. It is very convenient to test pregnancy at home. One can find it anywhere in a pharmacy or any grocer. There are various packaging and price ranges in pregnancy tests. But women must always consult a doctor before using it. The tests are done in the same fashion even though the range prices and packaging is different.
1. In order to detect the HCG hormone, that is the human chorionic gonadotropin hormone, these tests are done.
2. Women can find evidence of this hormone, once the implantation of the embryo is done on the wall of uterus.
3. After the ovulation it takes almost 6 to 12 days for the implantation to take place.
4. The levels of HCG begin to rise during the first week of pregnancy.
5. The detection of this hormone is very easily done through urine, thus getting accurate results and making it easy to perform pregnancy tests at home.
When a woman misses her first menstrual cycle, it is best to perform a home pregnancy test as it takes time for building this hormone in the system. If the testing is done very soon, it may lead to inaccurate results thus causing unnecessary stress for the woman. Some tests are specially designed for the detection of lower levels of HCG. The tests advertise that a test can be taken by a woman just 7 days after ovulation. These tests are very sensitive and the accuracy may differ from the tests which have a long waiting period.
Some guidelines for an accurate result:
1. Before taking pregnancy test at home, a woman must follow all the directions very carefully.
2. There are various steps like the stick should be held directly under the urine’s stream or its placement on a cup containing urine for some minutes.
3. As the manufacturers are different, the way of performing the tests also differ.
The home pregnancy test is usually done with the first urine in morning. This is because the HCG builds up during sleeping hours and can be detected easily. The results of most of the tests are given in 2 minutes. A + sign is shown if the results are positive. If the results are positive, woman should immediately consult a doctor and confirm the result. This ensures proper health care during pregnancy.
