In the Salem, Tamil Nadu region, Yercaud is a gorgeous hill station. It is situated in the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats and this Yercaud hill region is called Shevarory Hills.
It is located at height of 1515 metres above sea level, and Servarayan temple, which is at 5326 feet, is the uppermost point in Yercaud. It is so named owing to the plenty of trees categorised as a forest near the lake, which is refer as Lake Forest. Yercaud is known as Jewel of the South because it is considered as a well-liked tourist destination. This place is linked with the city of Salem, Tamil Nadu that is on the highway of 8 km. The temperature never goes up above 29 °C or goes below 13 °C Citrus fruits, coffee and most importantly, oranges are grown in plenty, apart from pears, jackfruit, and bananas. Yercaud is as captivating and scenic as the hill stations on the Western Ghats and here, trekking is considered as the fun and frolic activity. The total size of Yercaud Taluk is 382.67 km2, containing Reserve Forest. The township is administered by the whole country. This place also has a Village council.
The range Yercaud located is Archaeon plutonic rocks of charnokite series. There are three routes up to the hills, the Shevaroys range is surround with green grasses, and does not have any considerable forests growth. Bamboos are fully developed to an elevation of 3,000 feet, and on the upper levels some blackwood, sandalwood and teak are seen. In the hills, there are approximately 9,000 acres of coffee plantation. There is an enormous planted population of Silver Oak trees that includes coffee cultivation estates. It has a pleasant and moderate type of climate.
