The date, the 21st of December is slowly approaching us with each passing day. Some phenomenal change is expected to be experienced by the world on this specific date and it will be dramatically affect the world, according to two highly regarded sources. It is in fact speculated that life might cease to exist or significantly reduce if their predictions actually ensue. A decision about these end of the world prophecies, whether they are hyped up myths or actual realities, can only made if the reliability of the sources is determined.
The Mayan Civilization – Mayan Calendar
The term Mayan Calendar and the Mayan Civilization is well known among the people who are aware of the events that are predicted to take place in 2012 and what might happen in that year. As far as the fate of the earth is concerned, this is not only a highly popular prediction sources but is in fact even cited as the most accurate source by a lot of people.
It was in the 6th to 9th centuries that the Mayan Civilization was settled in Central America. The Mayans are known for excelling in astronomy, art, culture, written language, along with being extremely prophetic and mathematical.
Even though centuries have passed, the civilization of today still relies on the same principles that were a part of the Long Count Calendar devised by them.
As far as the Mayan calendar is concerned, December 21, 2012 is considered as the Northern Hemisphere’s winter solstice and the calendar comes to an end after that date. When the prediction of the Mayan calendar is checked against modern astronomy, the event that is being predicted takes place once every 25 thousand years and or so and is expected to occur on December 21, 2012. The event that is expected to take place in the coming year is the coherent alignment of the earth, sun and the centre of the Milky Way that will result in a cataclysmic event for the Earth.
I Ching or Book of Changes
The exact origin of the I Ching book cannot really be found since the task is rather challenging. I Ching or Book of Changes is believed to have been invented by a Chinese emperor, dating back to about 3000 B.C. It was supposedly one century later that the Egyptian Pyramids were built, which gives a good idea when this book was written. As far are foretelling the future is concerned, the I Ching is considered as an oracle.
Today the I Ching is used as a source of fortune telling. Once again the news regarding the date of December 21, 2012 as mentioned in the I Ching is also not good at all. Much like the Mayan Calender, the end of the world is predicted on this date; according to the I Ching graph timeline as well.
Thus, this is the reason that the date December 21, 2012 concerns so many people and the fact that two such notable sources coincide regarding the end of the world, is surely alarming.
