Glory of the Golden and the Colorful Hues of the Pushkar Fair 2011

One of the oldest cities in India, Pushkar is under one of the five sacred dhams and is often called the ‘Tirth Raj’. It means the king of the pilgrimage sites. It comes in the district of the city Ajmer in Rajasthan which is away only at a distance of 13 kilometers of winding and hilly terrain.  Thus, this pilgrimage site is very much visited by the devout Hindus and as well as the foreigners in the recent years.

There is a mythological story behind this colorful, lake town, as is the case with any other religious town or city in India. Hence, it is said that Lord Brahma performed penance here for 60,000 years to just get a glimpse of Lord Vishnu.  Thus, Pushkar being so old and also with this legend, it has a big cluster of temples and other religious sites. The most famous of them all is the Lord Brahma temple that was built around the 14th century AD. They even say that this is the only Brahma temple that exists in the world.  This is one of the few Brahma temples in the whole world if one counts the other few that exist.  As such there are very few that exist anywhere in the world, in fact, one can count the number and where they exist, on their fingertips.  They are in Uttar Pradesh, another in Balmer district of Rajasthan, one in Bali and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Thus, one can quite understand the importance of these temples when they are constructed in such a minority and the concerning belief in divinity.

Another aspect of this town that attracts all people alike, whether they are the locals from the town, from other major neighboring cities, other Indians from different parts of the country or very much so the foreigners from the different corners of the world is due to the very popular Pushkar Camel Fair. The recent popularity of the travelers especially that of the ones coming from the other countries and continents has increased and in fact given a lot of boost to the already very acclaimed festival and its other attractions.

The Pushkar Fair 2011 that is taking place is starting from the third of November, 2011 till the tenth of November, 2011 with various events into place. The Pushkar Fair 2011 is held annually each year, generally, in the month of November.  So the tourists plan in accordance with the fair dates and take up various packages that are on offer. The highlights of such a kind of a combination include a lot of things that is really advantageous for a tourist. The person can actually get to see the city of Jaipur, Agra on the way while travelling from the capital with various stoppages en route the destination. There are heritage resorts like the Samode Palace, The Neemrana et al that one must visit. Thus, it is better if one travels by road instead of a flight or a train. Palace on Wheels is a different matter, although. It is rather where an exception can be made. When the group reaches the town of Pushkar, there too, there are many engaging activities for them. To name a few would be the desert safari, hot air balloon flight which is done approximately for sixty minutes while all the safety standards and precautions are kept in mind. The best part is that one can appreciate the beauty from above, as the Aravalli hills can be seen surrounding the lake and the city. So the hot air balloon flight is almost like a must thing to do when one visits places such as these.
