New York State Banners And Flags
I traveled to the area of New York last week for business purposes of all kinds. As I was traveling around I became very much impressed with the state flag of New York, which flies nicely from taller and smaller flag poles throughout the state’s territory, including Long Island.
Interestingly, the current state flag has experienced changes over time, which is somewhat common for older or historical flags. The one that was flown from 1779 to 1901 (some 120 years) displayed a yellow colored field. The current banner features a blue field or background.
One of my favorite locations in this part of the world is Long Island. From the boroughs of New York City stretching all the way to Montauk on the east end of this incredible territory, Long Island has an incredible scenery to offer. Today, Long Island counts roughly 8 million inhabitants, making it the most populous island in the United States of America.
The so-called “Arms of New York State” were officially adopted in the late 18th century, around 1778. A ship is displayed in the center, a grassy shore as well as distant range of mountains. Justice and Liberty stand on both sides of the shield. An American eagle is displayed right above the elements, in the center as well.
The color change of the flag’s field occurred some 100 year ago, in 1902. It was changed from yellow to the color blue. The current flag flies from different flag poles throughout NY around and on top of buildings, including the Yankee Stadium.
New York City, located in, on and around Manhattan, is such an incredible environment to experience. This state is one of the busiest, in terms of population, in the U.S.A. Interestingly, and maybe not as commonly known to those living in other parts of America and the world, this state shares an international border with the country of Canada. This state also borders other U.S. states, including New Jersey.
The so-called “Standard of the Governor of New York” is very much similar to the flag of the state of NY. The different is that the standard features four white five-pointed stars in each corner of the banner. This white stars are featured nicely in correction proportion to the remaining elements of and on the state flag.
