A handmade selection of confections, presented in a beautiful box with a card containing a personal message, might be just the thing to bring a smile to your loved one’s face when all else has failed. Whilst it might be true that it is the thought that counts rather than the gift itself, recipients of either sex will not fail to be impressed when they see the trouble to which you have gone in order to show how deeply sorry you are. It is not actually necessary to travel abroad to find genuine Belgian chocolate these days but there is no need to share this fact with your partner.
If the person to whom you wish to apologise is not fond of products that contain cocoa then you will need to put your thinking cap on and come up with something equally good. Gourmet ice cream is worth a try if there is a store close to your home that stocks a good selection and you know what flavours they are likely to appreciate. If, on the other hand, you have absolutely no idea of the sort of treats that they find most appealing then it might be best to stick to gifts that can be exchanged if necessary.
If you do buy a present that can be returned if it is not what your loved one really wants, you still need to make sure that it is something really special and that they can see how much care you took over choosing it or the gesture will have been wasted. In all honesty, men that find themselves in a situation where they need to make amends but are not sure what their partner will most appreciate would be better off conducting some lightning research among her friends and family in an attempt to fill in the gaps in their knowledge.
