It’s Time To Get Fit And Lose That Excess Weight
I am fast approaching 60 years of age. This is something that I am not looking forward to; however, when I look at some people of my age, I realise that I am in pretty good shape. It wasn’t always that way and I can tell you that 10 or so years ago, I was fat and overweight. I had blood pressure problems and I had a real wake up call as far as my health was concerned.
I needed to get my lifeback on track otherwise, I was going to either go to an early grave or I was going to have a fairly bleak outlook because of my failing health. I felt sluggish and had little energy. I was the regular “couch potato” and I found that I had very little interest in what was happening around me. Looking back now, I can see that my wife had a lot to put up with.
A trip to my doctor one day highlighted the need to make some significant lifestyle changes. My doctor didn’t pull any punches. He outlined was could be ahead for me if I continued on my present path.
Three aspects of my life needed to be addressed. The first being my diet. The second aspect requiring attention was undertaking some form of exercise and the last matter that I had to address was my alcohol consumption.
My alcohol consumption was the easiest aspect to be addressed. I still enjoy a drink but this is certainly way less than what I consumed in the past. Diet was harder but eventually, I learned that a sensible well balanced diet based on fresh fruit and vegetables was the way to go. Certain treats were either cut back or deleted altogether.
Exercise was next and while I was slow to get a routine going, I am so thankful that I now undertake a fairly brisk daily walk. My walk lasts for an hour and let me tell you, that I go at a very fast pace. I use a product called Heel Tasticafter each walk and I find this very soothing on my feet.
As I approach 60, I am proud to tell you that I am fit and healthy and my weight is within normal levels. There is no reason why anyone should be overweight following my simple approach to diet and exercise. Make sure you look after your feet and wear footwear that is comfortable and has been fitted properly.
