How To Grow Business – Adapt Your Website To Mobile Website

With the increasing popularity of smartphones and Internet connectivity functions, more users are using their mobile devices to surf the web instead of their PCs. Indeed, expectation is that by mid-2012 more people will be on the mobile web rather than looking at sites on PC’s. Yet, it is amazing the amount of companies and retailers that have not adapted their website to mobile website yet.

Latest stats show nearly 100 million US consumers will be on the mobile web this year. eMarketer estimates that nearly half the American public will be using the mobile web by 2015 and this year, they estimate 21.5 million 45- to 64-year-olds and 3.7 million seniors 65 and older will use the mobile internet. By 2015, those numbers will both more than double to 45.4 million and 11.3 million, respectively.

71 million Europeans use the internet on their mobile each week for an average time of almost one hour a day

In the UK one in four people are shopping from their mobile phone buying not just mobile content but a wide variety of products and services as well ranging from electronics to airline tickets.

This all represents a terrific opportunity for online marketers to reach new customers. However, regular websites fail to display properly on the smaller screens of digital devices, due to the amount of text and images on the site which cause it to load more slowly. This problem can be addressed by reformatting sites to make browsing them on smartphones easier by reducing the amount of text and images.

With a mobile website, when a person responds to an ad you place by going to your website on their mobile phone, due to a small snippet of code being placed on your regular website, the mobile website displays on the mobile phone.

Your mobile website could include a wide range of features including customized branding using your company logos, an easy to use navigation panel, photo galleries, videos, click-to-call, directions etc as well as external links to apps such as Twitter and Facebook.

In 2012 the world of advertising is going to change. A typical ad will display a QR code pointing to a MOBILE website and alongside it a keyword to standard rate SMS short code. In most cases this keyword will be the Brand name that is doing the advertising. This concept will mean those with smartphones can hover over the QR code and view the MOBILE website immediately and the other method means those with dumbphones will receive the URL of the advertiser in a response text which they can open on their phones.

The next six months is going to be a wake up call to companies and retailers as they see what is going on around them with mobile marketing. Up to now there has been massive hype about social marketing, the real money to be made by companies is with texting and mobile marketing. Reformatting a website to mobile website should be done immediately
