A VPN Solution
Security is a necessity in today’s world, with many businesses such as banks and firms who have ensitive information that cannot be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. There are many people out there who would like to tap into this information for whatever purpose, whether it be for profit or for other reasons. The VPN solution is where many of these organizations and businesses turn to secure their information, which is largely stored on computers.
A VPN (virtual private network) is a ‘hidden’ network that is separate from the public domain. The internet is based on a WAN (wide area network) which connects smaller LANs (local area networks) through ISPs (internet service providers.) However, the internet is open water. Any information transmitted from a local area network to the wide area network is subject to interception due to the internet’s openness to the world. There are many businesses and firms who cannot afford to let certain information into the hands of whoever would like to possess it, so they turn to the VPN solution.
The VPN connects networks through private routers and a separate network altogether, allowing companies to connect to each other and send information over a network that is hidden from public view. It is like having two separate phone lines running into a house. Both lines are independent from each other, one is accessible to anyone and the other is a private line that can only be used by those who possess certain credentials. The VPN operates in a similar way, allowing companies to use a ‘private line’ to send information to each other without worrying whether or not it could be intercepted by a third party. The VPN solution is something that many companies turn to in order to safeguard themselves.
Using a VPN as a ‘private line’ may prove to be secure enough for most business and industries, however there is still the possibility that the security of the VPN may be compromised if someone was able to find it and access it. Further measures can be taken to safeguard information, such as implementing password, using biometric systems (fingerprint scanners) and encrypting information into ‘gibberish’ before sending it across the network, rendering it unreadable unless the proper equipment is at hand to translate the information, or simply requiring a password to access the network. One of these safeguards can be used or a combination can be used, depending on how secure the business or industry would like to keep itself.
The VPN solution is where many business and industries are turning to in order to keep their information safe. The military and police force all use VPNs to stay connected, for they cannot grant the public access to the sensitive material they may possess. Businesses such as banks who have private information given to them by clients cannot afford to have the privacy of their client compromised. The VPN solution is the best way for them to do this in a time when nothing is safe.
