Mahindra XUV 500 set to launch this year
The largest utility vehicles seller in India Mahindra and Mahindra is now approaching in premium SUV segment in which it doesn’t have occupancy till date. For the purpose of incursion in this segment the company would launch already announced XUV 500 along with Rexton and Korando from its Korean subsidiary Ssangyong Motor Corporation. The all new XUV 500 will be first car presented by Mahindra and Mahindra to arrive in premium SUV segment. According to the company officials the Mahindra XUV 500 Price will fall in the range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Initially the car will be offered in India and South Africa before it’s admittance in other markets globally. The car will probably come by the end of the last quarter of this year. Although Korando was launched globally about two months back, both the Rexton and Korando SUV s will be admitted in India by middle of next year.
Mr. Vivek Nayer senior vice president marketing Mahindra and Mahindra reportedly quoted that currently company doesn’t have any SUV in the price range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. The highest priced Scorpio is available in the ambit of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 11 lakh. The upcoming XUV 500 is aimed at young audience and will be offered in two wheel and four wheel drive options in both India and South Africa market.
It is said that the company is planning to put this Mahindra XUV 500 SUV between Scorpio and high end SUVs with the goal to make this SUV a next generation SUV aimed at generation x. The car is equipeed with with 2.2 L mHawk engine which can churnout 140 bhp power and a peak torque of 32.6 kgm. it is said that this engine is specifically designed for XUV 500 and company is working to increase the generated power up to 170 bhp. Additionally the car will come with cable operated gear box with two manual transmission options like 5-speed and 6-speed gearbox. Besides this the SUV XUV 500 renders many safety features like airbags, ABS, ESP and hill decent control.
With the recent launch of Renault koleos which was previously in a bond with Mahindra and Mahindra , the company is trying for good foothold By introducing XUV 500 that is likely to compete with Renault koleos and other SUVs in Indian market.
