APPLE TO LAUNCH CHEAPER IPHONE 4 with all latest features

Apple has plans to launch a cheap iPhone 4 within this month of September 2011. They’re ready to forego some profits in order to win more customers who’re now going for cheaper phones manufactured by their rivals such as Nokia. Having a cheap iPhone they’ll expand and reach emerging markets such as China. Apple recognizes China’s potential as the largest market for smartphones.

The cheap iPhone 4 is going to be smaller and will be followed by the launch of iPhone 5 towards September month end. The iPhone 5 will be a next-generation phone. The iPhone 5 will have same features as the current iPhone 4 but with a bigger touchscreen, 8MP camera and a more receptive antenna. Two firms namely Pegatron Corp and Hon Hai Industries will manufacture it. They initially plan to produce 45 million units. Sprint Network is planning to start marketing, in america, the brand new model of iPhone in October. The firm will end up the third Apple products distributor in the US joining Verizon and AT&T.

Apple seemed to have stuck to the high end users within the lucrative smartphone and mobile industry since January 2007 when it unveiled the iPhone. It has to market a cheap iPhone if its intend to increase sales in emerging markets is to succeed. Asian phone manufacturers have started producing a cheap smartphone with flash storage of just 8GB. It’ll start selling at the same time iPhone 5 will be launched. This will threaten Apple’s plan to expand its customer base in emerging markets. A cheap iPhone 4 is necessary for apple to enter this huge market because the average income of people is a lot lower in China. Apple has to compete with the price of Nokia phones. Nokia will continue to provide a stiff competition with its new phone designed to operate on Microsoft’s Windows expected to be launched before the year ends.

iPhones sales, in this year’s second quarter, was 20.34 million against a projection of 18 million. To increase these sales Apple is looking to Asia. They have had talks with China Telecom Corp and China Mobile to start marketing iPhones. The smartphone industry doubles annually and Nokia dominates customers for the inexpensive phones whereas Apple has dominance on high priced market. Nokia’s market in China has shrinked slightly since they discontinued producing handsets that use the Google’s Android mobile which is free. This accustomed to its strongest selling point.

Apple’s move to produce a cheap iPhone is part of its strategic plans for products for the lower end market. The iPod mini, nano and shuffle are inexpensive products Apple produced for music player market once it had established dominance in the high price market using their original player.
