The Golf Cabriolet is Finally Here
I can’t believe it’s been 9 years since Volkswagen released a new Golf Cabriolet, but the wait paid off as the new 2011 Golf Cabriolet is a car that I definitely wanted for myself. The new model is a four seater, soft top convertible, based on the new Golf platform, but it’s around 20cm shorter than the Eos, measuring 4,246mm in length, 1,423mm in height and 1,782mm wide.
When I was placing my order for the new Volkswagen Golf on Newbury‘s VW dealer website, I had the choice of three engines to choose from, a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS, 1.4-litre TSI 160 PS and a 1.6-litre TDI 105 PS. After I placed my order I found out that there will be further petrol and two diesel engines available later on in the year.
The new Golf Cabriolet is available in three trim levels – S, SE and GT. Even though the standard specification offers a lot, I made sure my car was the top of the range and chose the GT trim level, as it features Bluetooth, Zone climate control, cruise control, parking sensors, automatic head lights, sports suspension, Alcantara upholstery and 18-inch alloy wheels.
I ordered my new Golf Cabriolet at the beginning of July when the UK order books opened, but the new model will be built at Volkswagen Osnabruck (formerly the Karmann Company) in Germany. As I order the top of the range model, my new car cost me around £26,595, and finally after waiting for nearly three months I will get my car delivered next week.
