Google said it has added new features to Google+’s group video conferencing tool “Hangout”, which allow users to video or text chat with anyone willing to do so. Google+ will allow as many as 10 people to communicate simultaneously in a video hangout.
Under a feature called “Hangouts on Air”, a person can start a normal hangout and have the option to broadcast and record his session. Once a person is “on air”, up to nine others can join his hangout and watch his live broadcast.
To enable multiperson “hangouts” on the mobile phone, Google has added a new mobile application that will be rolled out to the Android market today. Hangouts currently supports Android 2.3+ devices with front-facing cameras. Google added that iOS support will be coming soon.
