Some people will still choose to install fake grass themselves although it is recommended that they should seek the services of an experienced and professional installer. There are steps to follow in installing the fake grass that are very easy to follow.

1.Prepare the tools for installing the fake grass. Homeowners will need to prepare some tools such as tape measure, notched towel, cutting knife with spare blades, vibrating compactor, garden tools, level, straight edge, and roller.
2.Lay out the necessary materials. The installation of fake grass requires materials such as synthetic grass, outdoor adhesive, seaming or joining adhesive tape, silica sand and rubber granules that are optional, crushed rock, and metal pins.
The steps for installation preparation of fake grass involve the following tasks:
1.The existing lawn should be sprayed first with weed killer before installing the synthetic grass. However, a suitable time should be allowed for the weed killer to take effect. It is necessary to remove the dead grass, weeds, organic matter, and debris.
2.The final height for the fake grass should be finalised so that the depth of excavation can be calculated. Depending on the size of the area, hand digging or the use of machinery can be used. The recommended depth is 50mm to 100 mm depending on the desired application.
3.The next step to do in the preparation is to excavate, compact, and level the sub-base. A horizontal drainage to a garden area is highly recommended.
For the base construction in the installation of fake grass, the following tasks should be done:
1.Spread and level the crushed rock, lightly water and compact it using a vibrating plate compactor. Depressions should be filled with crushed rock.
2.Before rolling out the synthetic grass rolls, the base should be a few millimetres below the side or surface.
