IGNOU to begin programmes in ICT and electronics
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune to offer post graduate degree programmes in advanced areas of Information and Communication Technology and Electronics (ICTE) at the various C-DAC centres.
The objective of this MoU is to develop full/ flexi time diploma, M.Tech degree programme and research programmes leading to Phd and M.S. by research of IGNOU at C-DAC centres. It aims to undertake joint research programmes in ICTE areas and apply for funding from National and/ or International agencies.
Programmes in M.Tech/ M.S. on Cyber Forensics, M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI system are ready for launch while M.Tech/ MS in high performance computing and M.Tech/MS in IT with specialization in software technologies and enterprise architecture are still in the pipeline.
According to the MoU, the M.Tech degree programme would normally consist of specific set of course work for one year, followed by a project of one-year duration. Sufficient flexibility will be incorporated to intersperse the project and the course work for maximum effectiveness.
Provision will also be made to convert course credits to diploma/ certificate programe. Some of these courses can be offered as diploma/ certificate programmes with focused specialisation. The collaboration would also lead to effective national/ international workshops, conferences, seminars, symposiums and publish the proceedings thereof.
