Watch out for what you are Touching!

Strengthen your immune system with healthy hygiene habits!

The average adult touches about 30 items per minute, including those on which there are many bacteria and viruses (HPV for example), such as light switches, door handles, telephones and TV remote, it is very important to take care of hygiene at your home. But what happens when you decide to go to the restaurant for dinner, to the supermarket in your neighborhood or to the doctor?

Besides the dirty buttons in elevators and at ATMs, we introduce you with a few places where germs are widespread, and that certainly would not be touched if you want to save your health, so, please note the following:

-The Spice Shakers – in restaurants

It is true that many people do not wash their hands before meals. We assume that you are a purist and to take care of your hand hygiene but someone before you who used the salt and pepper shaker may not be, and bacteria are so easily transferred. Best thing to do before using that bottle with spices, vinegar or antiseptic gel for washing hands put on napkin would do the trick.

-The Soap in cafes and bars

About 25% of soap in restaurants and cafes are full of viruses and germs! It may sound strange that in the soaps have bacteria and viruses but it is a result of recent research. In fact, soap dish is rarely pure, bacteria and viruses are spread by them and transferred to soap. Because of that, hands should be washed under running hot water for about 20 seconds, and if you have your gel for washing hands with an alcohol-use it.

-The toilet dor knobs

It is hard to get into a public toilet and your hand does not touch the door handle, so wash your hands before and grasp the handle with some paper towel. For those modern toilets with no paper towels, use your handkerchief ( make sure you wash it after that ). Although, some might say going overboard, not-so if you can protect yourself from disease.

-The Lemon slices

According to a survey from 2007 almost 70% of slices of lemon served with drinks in bars and restaurants contain some pathogens. When the researchers ordered drinks in restaurants they have found as many as 25 different germs, including E.Coli. If you do not want to risk, simply ask the waiter to bring you a drink without fruit.

-The shopping carts in stores

The handles on shopping carts are perfect for germs. Their number is equal to those in the public toilets. It is therefore very important to remember to wipe your handle with disinfectant wipe (if available) or use some other barrier between your hands and handle. Make sure that you wash your hands as soon as you can after shopping.

-The Menu in the restaurant

You probably never seen anyone wipes menu clean at any restaurant. Neither did we. One study found that viruses that cause colds, flu and even the appearance of viral warts on hands, on hard surfaces can survive over 18 hours. If you go to a restaurant that is popular, keep in mind that thousands of people use the same menu, and therefore transmitt germs and viruses. This might be a tricky one, but desifectant wipes would come handy here. As always, be sure to wash your hands before and after you eat.

So, do not touch things in public places because they are full of bacteria and viruses.
