Making Mashed Potatoes and Garlic Mashed Potatoes
You must roast the garlic so that it will give your potatoes a homey and warm flavor. This recipe can serve 6 persons. To get started, you will need to have the following ingredients:
2 chopped scallions
2 thinly sliced garlic cloves
Large head garlic
6 tablespoons of milk
2 pounds of baking potatoes
3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
A sprig of fresh thyme

1. You must preheat the oven first to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. While preheating the oven, you must cut the third portion off of the large garlic head.
3. You must now put the garlic head in a baking dish. You must also add enough water until it comes 1/3 of the way on the side of the garlic head.
4. Then, drizzle half a tablespoon of oil over the garlic head.
5. Put a sprig of fresh thyme at the top portion of the garlic head. After this, cover the pan using aluminum foil. Once all is set, bake for about an hour or until the garlic is tender and soft.
6. Then, squeeze the garlic out of every clove and place them in a small bowl. Set the bowl with the garlic aside.
7. Put the potatoes in a stockpot and add enough water to cover by 1 inch.
8. Add just a tiny teaspoon of salt for every quart of water. Afterwards, add the 2 thinly sliced cloves of garlic celery, bay leaf and the scallions.
9. Boil the water over high heat and cook the potatoes. The potatoes must be cooked until they are tender. When the potatoes are pierced with the tip of the knife, cook it for 20 minutes.
10. Then, drain the potatoes and do not include the large pieces of the herbs and vegetables.
11. You must put the potatoes back in a pot where they were cooked. Then, shake or stir over medium heat until the potato chunks are dry. Then, cover the pot and set it aside.
12. Meanwhile, you must put the butter and milk pan and heat until it is warm.
13. While waiting for the butter and milk to warm, you must pass the potatoes in the potato ricer.
14. Pour the warm butter and milk on the potatoes. After this, whip the mixture using a whisk.
15. Add the roasted garlic. Use the whip to stir the mixture thoroughly.
16. Add pepper and salt to taste. For added flavor, you can serve with softened butter. Serve it to guests or loved ones while still warm.
