How to Find a Quality Copywriter

If you want to make money online, you’re going to have to have a website. If you would like that website to generate income, it needs to be written extremely well. Unless you are already a copywriter yourself, it’s in your best interest to engage the services of someone who is well-qualified to write the text for your web site. A good copywriter will generate a lot more cash than you would ever even be able to hope to see if you went and did all of the writing by yourself. Evidently, though, not every copywriter is the same as the next one. Some are really talented. Some, on the other hand, don’t have any but are trying their hand at copywriting as someone told them that online writing would be a breeze. These are a couple of ways to help you distinguish the good copywriters from the bad copywriters.

Does the writer have a web site of his or her own? Any copywriter worth his or her salt is going to have his or her own website that contains a bio, several samples and a resume (and anything else the writer feels like sharing). If they don’t have a site of their own, how are they supposed to assist you with your site? Observe the copy on their website as well. If it is full of mistakes this is not a good sign.

How favorably do you respond as you read the copywriter’s own web copy? This involves more than simply finding errors in grammar and syntax. Does the web site copy cause an emotional response as you go over it? Does the copy prompt you to like the copywriter? Does it make you want to follow up and learn more about the writer? Does the website copy make you feel like you want to hire that writer right away? Does it make you want to run away? Does the website copy push you to be angry? These are all important reactions and you must listen to them.

Inquire into the writer’s’s background a little. Try searching for reviews on online forums and unbiased websites. It is probable that the only reviews on the copywriter’s site are going to be positive ones. Do a search online for the copywriter’s name to find out if there are any reviews or personal testimonials that are not run and can’t be controlled by the writer you are checking up on. Look closely at these testimonials. It is a good idea to ask the writer for references as well. You need to actually get in touch with each reference and get an honest opinion about the copywriter from each person.

It is essential to actually go over any samples given to you by the writer. Try asking the writer to send you a few more samples that aren’t already provided on the website. This is especially important when you’re trying to employ a writer who claims to be an expert in a particular area. If the writing is obscure and reads like a rewritten Wikipedia article, you should move on.

You have many choices available to you when you’re trying to determine whether or not to hire a copywriter. It’s essential to do your research and look beyond the writer as a person and find out what you can about his or her reputation and character.
