How to Fix a Wet iPhone or iPod
Whether we like it or not, no matter how precious our iPod or iPhone is to us, accidents may happen it such as getting wet. Common incidents include sliding into the toilet while doing your thing or forgetting you’re wearing it when you jumped into the pool. Regardless of how it happened, getting your iPod or iPhone wet is not good. You need to quickly do something about your wet iPhone or iPod to save it. To help you out, here are some tips to consider:
Tip #1: Never attempt to turn on your iPhone or iPod.
This is since it’s not really the water that can damage your iPhone or your iPod but rather the short circuit that may happen when you turn it on while it’s still wet. Make sure it’s totally dry before you turn the device on.
Tip #2: Take out all the peripherals from your wet iPhone or iPod.
This includes items that may still be attached to your iPhone or iPod like the headphone and the case.
Tip #3: Use a vacuum to take out the water from the device.
Use the handheld part of your vacuum cleaner and point it around the device. Get as much water out. Never use blow dryer because using one will only force air into certain areas of your iPhone or iPod. This will eventually cause more damage to the device.
Tip #4: Put your iPhone or iPod in a container that has some from of desiccant.
A good one would be silica gel packets or dry ice. You can use a sealed container or a zip-closure plastic bag so the desiccant can draw water from inside the iPod or iPhone instead of from the open air. Leave it for 24 to 48 hours, maybe even longer depending on the volume of water that came in contact with it. If your iPhone or iPod was submerged, it is best to leave it up to seven days but you should change the desiccant every 24 hours.
Tip #5: Use compressed air in removing dust or other forms of debris from the ports of your device.
You should do this after you’ve dried out our device. You can also use a hearing aid dryer.
Tip #5: Leave your iPhone or iPod in a well ventilated area.
Put it face up so the water can evaporate. You can also put your wet iPhone or iPod in front of your low running fan. Just leave it there for 3 or more days to completely dry.
