How to Make Your Own Party Flyers
Prepare your own party flyers for your child’s or spouse’s birthday party. It is an inexpensive yet creative way of inviting your guests to the party. As long as you know how to use Microsoft Word, you can do the flyer printing yourself with the inkjet printer at your home. You can even use special paper for this after all, that is just about the expense that you will really need to spend on.
So how do you go about making one? Here are the simple steps to take using the materials you have at home.
1. If you already have a theme for your party, such as Dora the Explorer for your young daughter, then use this theme for your flyer as well. That way, it will be easier for you to make the design of the invitation.
2. While flyers are typically the size of a short size bond paper (8.5”x11”), you can decide how big you want it to be. You can use half a sheet lengthwise or crosswise so that you can save on paper as well as on ink. The bigger the paper the more ink you will consume for your design.
3. Open a blank Word document. If you decide to have a half page layout, then set the dimensions on the page layout. Save your file with an appropriate filename.
4. Look up images about Dora from the internet. There are a lot of stock-free images about Dora. Save them onto your computer. Go back to your Word file and insert the image that you have chosen. You may also want to use a photo of your daughter who is celebrating her birthday. It would be a nice way of telling people how your child looks now, especially if they haven’t seen her for some time.
5. Input the pertinent information, like the date, venue, and event. If you have a birthday registry, include it there as well. When you are happy with your design, you can proceed to printing.
6. You can actually print your flyers in black ink. But if you have colored ink already loaded in your printer, it would not really cost much if you will print the flyers in color. At least it will look really nice when you give it out to your family and friends. Additionally, if you have made the layout in color, it will look so much different when you print it in black ink.
7. Before mass production, print only one copy so that you can see how it looks like on print and you can still make adjustments if necessary. Use a scratch paper for this purpose so that you will not waste your special paper. Preview your layout in the print setup before printing to make sure that all the details fit in the printable area. If not, go back to the layout again and adjust them first before running.
Flyer printing can really be done at home as long as you have these simple tools that almost every American home has. You can save so much on your flyers if you do it yourself and you will also get to exercise your creativity. Do that the next time you have a party, either for your kids, for your hubby or for yourself.
