Toyota Camry GPS
Do you remember the last time you were running late, struggling to find the location of that job interview, key meeting, or cocktail party? Maybe it was at night and you could barely see the street signs. And maybe your co-pilot in the seat next to you was fuming at your incompetence. All of us long for a stress-free experience behind the wheel, but getting disoriented and wandering aimlessly can be nerve-wracking. Most people would be very relieved to never worry about getting lost again with a Toyota Camry GPS . If you’re in the market for a new car, you might be in luck.
Factory-installed TOYOTA Navigation DVD systems cost about $2,000 plus installation fees. In-dash systems have a built-in monitor and are sometimes integrated with other vehicle controls, such as the stereo or climate system.
Telematics systems use an onboard computer, GPS and a hands-free cell phone interface to give you voice-based assistance and services, and the two systems are often offered together on more expensive cars. Subscribers to these services can get turn-by-turn help with directions, stolen vehicle assistance (your car, if taken, can be located via GPS), remote door-unlocking and roadside assistance for breakdowns or accidents. You might even be able to get help even if you’re unconscious: the Toyota Camry GPS systems can detect when your air bags are deployed or your car has been in a crash.
The three best known telematics systems are General Motors’ OnStar, Mercedes-Benz’ Tele Aid and Toyota Camry Assist. With these systems you pay a monthly or yearly charge, which generally ranges from the low hundreds annually and up, depending on services chosen. Some 2008 and 2009 General Motors models, such as the Buick Enclave, come with a one-year subscription to OnStar.
Navigation systems require much more comparison shopping because of their complex interfaces. Be sure you’re comfortable with operating the menu via the controls – some are touch-screen, some rely on exterior buttons or are on a remote control. You don’t want to have to spend more than a couple of minutes to key in an address and get your information on screen.
Nearly all carmakers today offer factory-installed, in-dash navigation systems in at least some of their models, and even those in less-expensive cars perform very well. TOYOTA CAMRY Navigation systems do change with time, however, so be sure to check on how much system updates cost and how frequently you may need them
