Online Document Management System from LedgersOnline
Online Document Management is the latest growing trend in the cloud computing family. For many businesses these days it is not enough to access their work email from outside the office they now want to access important documents easily when needed to view and share. Online Document Management has been garnering fans in the past few years and is now spawning many new services that specialize in a type of Online Document Management and LedgersOnline is a company that offers just that.
LedgersOnline offering is “Online Document Management for Bookkeeping & Accounting records”, as they call it. This is a service that interested me very much so as it is a great example of the bookkeeping and accounting industry that is only beginning to utilize cloud based technology. As a technology enthusiast I wanted to learn more about this offering so I signed up to test it.
Looking at the exterior from this Beta offering I was a pleasantly surprised. Loading times from my login was exceptional as was working through the application. The color scheme worked well and the design was clean and simple. Folders appeared on the left of the screen and were populated also carrying the option of renaming them (e.g. payables, bank statements) as needed. On the right is the main navigational area using tabs to guide your next move. Here I was able to invite a person to my project which could be a client, bookkeeper or accountant depending on the user and their intentions allowing them to securely share their documents.
Another nice feature evident from the dashboard was the ability to send receipts or any documents when out of the office to a folder in the application and also attach a note from my phone for your bookkeeper, accountant or client to work off. As a business owner my bookkeeper could receive this receipt and make the entries when required or to be easily retrieved at a later time. Bookkeepers can also attach a note to the document with in the application to show what the last use of the file was. Also a key feature in the application is how you can easily view a file. This is a feature that has been carefully manufactured by LedgersOnline allowing you to view PDF files and other files within the application with rotating and zoom functions ensuring you don’t need to leave it to view popular file types like these. Features like these are integral to the application and LedgersOnline hope to roll out some new ones in the coming months.
Overall I was impressed by LedgersOnline’s Online Document Management Solution, although still in beta it was certainly very much functional and many businesses could and should use this online solution with the bonus of it been FREE to use with no usage limitations.
