Sandi Vito and a Glimpse on Her Notable Contributions in Pennsylvania Labor & Industry Department
Prominent leadership skills and great passion for excellence – these are the two important factors that enabled Sandi Vito to effectively fulfill her role as the Secretary of Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry. During her term in the said government position, there is no doubt that she has been the key factor of the successful growth of the state’s workforce. She was among the most enthusiastic leaders who worked fruitfully in Gov. Edward Rendell’s project called Job Ready PA. This project was basically designed to harness the skills and knowledge of the Pennsylvania workforce so that they can be globally competitive. It was also intended to build and nurture dynamic partnerships between businesses and the state. In fact, the project was able to establish almost 80 industrial partnerships since its implementation.
Prior to her appointment, Sandi Vito has served local government offices where she has assumed a leadership position. Since the start of her career in 1991, her colleagues and superiors have already admired her exceptional skills and thus she have landed on leadership and managerial positions. For 20 years of excellent service, more than 6,000 employees in over 200 offices under her management worked efficiently and contributed to the success of their office’s operations. She has served as a good example and inspiration to her members. She has also been tagged as the leader with deep commitment among the other government office leaders.
In 2002, Sandi Vito was included in the “Sy Snyder’s Power 50”, which is a list of the most influential people in the politics scene of Pennsylvania. The PoliticsPA also named her in the list of top political operatives in the state, called “Democratic Dream Team”. She was then included in the list of PoliticsPA “Pennsylvania’s Most Politically Powerful Women” and “Pennsylvania’s Smartest Staffers and Operatives”. Adding to these citations are the numerous awards given to her by several government and private organizations. Two of her most remarkable awards are the 2008 Workforce Professional of the Year Award and the 2009 Salute to the Leadership Eagle Award.
Furthermore, Sandi Vito has been supportive to the youth group of the state. She recognized some of the outstanding students in certain areas of knowledge. One of these students was Matt Cain who was awarded with the 2008 Student Health Care Award. This senior student from Central Bucks West High School completed 1,000 hours of quality service as an EMT volunteer at the Warrington Medical Services. He also served as a volunteer at the Doylestown Fire Company.
