Volvo XC70 – what do you get for your money?
Since their transformation from boxy, family transporter merchants to slick purveyors of stylish motors in the mid-noughties, Volvo has produced some of the most good-looking, practical, and dare I even say it, sporty family vehicles on the market.
The Volvo XC70 is no exception and has quietly and gracefully gone about its business over the last couple of years to become one of the darlings of the crossover car market.
So what’s so good about it? Well, it’s handsome beast for a kickoff and has plenty of room for children, dogs, golf clubs and cases of wine, which is obviously a good thing. Inside the cabin the quality continues with integrated two-stage booster seats for the kids, a versatile three split seat set up and a quality looking centre console with connectivity for your iPhone/other gadgets.
Hill-decent control, high ground clearance and a rugged crossover car design only add to the XC70’s appeal as an excellent car for the family. There are three different engine options available, all of which produce a meaty 163bhp should you encounter any big hills or mild race tracks.
The pick of the bunch is the D3 AWD version, which features a 2.4litre diesel engine capable of a 0-60mph in 10.2seconds and a top speed of 127mph in the manual version. Economy is great too with return of 55mpg promised if you do most of your driving out in the sticks. Sounds like a nice thought.
What do you get for your money? Well, quite a lot actually.
