Countdown of the Best Princess Dresses for this Halloween
Can you believe that Halloween 2011 is almost here? And moms and dads across the nation are searching high and low for that perfect Halloween costume for their young children. I have to say that Halloween costumes have changed drastically from when I was a child. No longer do kids have to endure those cheap plastic costumes and stuffy plastic masks — which is a good thing. However, now the options for costumes are infinite, and how do you navigate the seemly endless barrage of catalogs and websites looking for your Halloween dollar?
If your little girl is set on transforming into a princess on that special day, we’ve listed for you with the greatest princess costumes of the 2011 Halloween season. Prior to the big countdown, we have a few general suggestions for your princess Halloween. Our first suggestion is to order early. The best and most popularly-sized princess dresses sell out early! So if you don’t want to disappoint your little royal, please make sure to order her costume in September. Our second suggestion is to look beyond the Disney line. All of the dresses recommended here are not Disney licensed products. You can find beautiful princess costumes that are similar in price to the Disney dresses, but in most cases they are much higher quality than the traditional Disney costumes. Your little girl can still be Belle or Cinderella for Halloween without having that picture of her favorite princess in the center of her dress.
Our fourth dress in the top princess dresses for Halloween 2011 is the Primrose Maiden dress by A Wish Come True. If your daughter wants to be a beautiful renaissance princess this dress might just be for her. The knee length gown has a full poufy tulle skirt of white and hot pink and the bodice is white and gold with small hot pink bows down the front. The cap sleeves are made from see-through hot pink sheer fabric. The look is completed with a glitzy gold cone hat with flowing hot pink tulle from the top. This dress is beautiful and very unique. She’ll look so cute in this dress. It is available in sizes 3 to 10, and can be purchased at specialty stores for about $65.
Puppet Workshop’s Peach Princess dress takes third in our top princess dresses of 2011 countdown. If your little princess is interested in becoming Sleeping Beauty on Halloween night, you should check out this beautiful princess gown. Puppet Workshop does an amazing job with their princess dresses. If you are looking for in general a pink poufy princess dress, then Puppet Workshop will have a dress for you. Their Peach Princess dress closely resembles the dress worn by Sleeping Beauty in the Classic Disney tale. No need for a tulle underskirt here, this dress has tons of tulle built right in. Don’t be fooled, the name of this dress “Peach Princess” is a misnomer since the dress is most definitely pink. This dress is available in sizes 2 to 10 and can be purchased online for about $58.
The second place finisher for this year’s top princess dresses for Halloween 2011 is the Frog Princess Dress made by A Wish Come True. This princess was originally brought to us via a fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm. Princess and the frog dresses became a “must have” when the Disney film was released on the big screen on December 11, 2009. What makes this Princess and the Frog dress so special? Well, the lines and the fabrics of this dress are just gorgeous. And to top it all off, the dress is actually made in the USA! Some of the princess and the frog dresses look a little frumpy. Not this one! With a built in leotard, your little princess can jump like a frog one minute and dance like a princess the next without any worries that the dress will not stay put. This dress receives 5 stars from us! If you’ve never checked them out, A Wish Come True princess dresses are to die for! Absolutely top quality and built to last. The Frog Princess Dress by A Wish Come True is available in sizes from 3T up to size 10 and from most specialty retailers for around $55.00.
The winner of our 2011 most popular princess dress for Halloween is Rapunzel. This year’s princess Halloween parade is sure to begin and end with Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Rapunzel. The Disney film “Tangeled” was released November 24, 2010, well after last year’s Halloween season, making it this years’ most sought after princess dress. If your daughter or granddaughter dreams about transforming into Rapunzel this Halloween, be sure to check out the Standard Rapunzel dress ($29.99 at most stores) and the Deluxe Rapunzel Dress ($39.99 at most stores) by Little Adventures. The standard Rapunzel dress is a beautiful lavender princess dresses with the trademark crisscross of ribbons on the front. The deluxe model is slightly different, but just as beautiful, with two layers of lavender fabric in the skirt, making it appear more substantial when she walks. These dresses are both beautiful and practical (they are machine washable). However, if you are looking for the poufy princess look, be sure to purchase the Little Adventures underskirt for an additional $12. No Rapunzel costume is complete without a long flowing blonde wig. As we all well know, Rapunzel is well known for her long hair. A couple of options are available for a Rapunzel wig. Princess Paradise makes a quality Rapunzel wig that is braided with a lavender ribbon on the end. This wig is available in two sizes, 30 inch and 44 inch, making it practical for even small girls to become Rapunzel on Halloween. You can also select a long blonde wig without the braid which might get a little “tangled” but that might just be the look you’re going for.
Halloween is quickly approaching, and I’m sure your young children are anxious to select the perfect Halloween costume for 2011. Don’t disappoint them, so buy early so you ensure that their top selections are not sold out.
