We all know that canvas is a woven cloth. Generally it is used in tents etc because of its sturdiness. So when you print a photograph on a canvas it is called as canvas art, or stretched canvas. The canvas which is used for canvas printing is mostly cotton or a type of poly canvas. The idea of printing the photographs on canvas was basically developed by the interior decorators. The canvas print looks so rich that it changed the face of wall decoration. If canvas is used as a printing medium for the specific need of wall decoration then, that canvas have to be pure white cotton as then only the best quality color printing can be done.
As there have been so much development in this particular area, now it is possible to the modern printers to print images on large canvas rolls. They can also directly print on the canvas as now there are certain settings to ensure that the quality of image is not spoiled while printing. Taking canvas print of the image is better that the paper print because of the durability of the canvas as a material. It is also cost effective alternate option to the framing as there is no need of glazing and also no need of varnishing the frames of the print again and again as the frames are not the visible part of the whole print. The Canvas print are better because they last long that the prints. Taking care of them is also quite easy. They generally fare better than the ordinary prints in case of water damage and fading. If you want to clean your canvas print then you just have to mix very mild soap for e.g. baby soap with water and clean the print with it. You can also use glass cleaning liquid to clean the surface of a canvas print.
