Carbon Neutral TV Monitors
For the first time ever, home appliances, solar panels and various consumer electronics are being distributed with the CarbonFree® Sustainability Label by LG.
Helping to educate consumers and retailers about sustainability and the Carbonfund.org Foundation – TV monitors, refrigerators and various other products are now available.
The Foundation
The leading non-profit Cardbonfund.org Foundation stands for carbon reduction and is a climate solutions organisation, making it easy and affordable for individuals, businesses and organisations alike to reduce their climate impact by supporting third-party validated renewable energy, energy efficiency and forestry projects.
CarbonFree LG
The CarbonFree Certification is a transparent, meaningful label that distinguishes products that have undergone this rigorous third-party certification process.
In July this year, LG completed a life cycle analysis (LCA) on six core products to determine their carbon footprints from raw material extraction and production – all the way through to end of use and disposal.
Products
According to Carbonfund.org Foundation President, Eric Carlson, this will mark the first time that certified LCD TV monitors, refrigerators, clothes washers, LED lamps and solar panel products will be available to the public.
Other LG products were also awarded the ENERGY STAR®; the LG TV monitor, washing machine and refrigerator were all recognised.
Sustainable Company
Wayne Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics USA, stated: “As part of our goal to become the most sustainable consumer products company in the world, LG is thrilled to partner with the Carbonfund.org in this ground breaking effort,”
“Achieving the CarbonFree label for these products both validates the efforts we have made to reduce our carbon footprint and provides consumers important information they can trust.”
LG representatives visited Carbonfund.org in Washington to sign the partnership agreement.
