Many people love the look of a free standing towel rack, and they love the fact that it can create plenty of more space for folded or hanging towels in your bathroom, too. Yet this type of rack is not without its disadvantages, and perhaps the most significant disadvantage is that it does take up a lot of space on the floor. Because of how large these racks can be, they generally will require several square feet of space, and this means that space for movement and flow of traffic in your bathroom will be taken up. If you have a larger bathroom, this may not affect you at all. However, if you don’t have space for a free standing towel rack, are there other options?
You will find that there are many different styles of racks available. There are the most traditional and basic styles that mount to the wall, and some of these have the stylish addition of a shelf over the bar so you can add home décor or folded towels. There are also other models available for those who don’t have ample wall space or who don’t want to affix things to their walls. These are models that hang over the many doors in your bathroom such as your shower door, your linen closet door, your cabinet door, and even your bathroom door.
Before you buy a free standing towel rack or any other model of rack, you will first want to step into your bathroom and consider the different spaces you have available for this rack. Consider spaces such as over the toilet, on the back of doors, and so forth. Then consider the location that would be most convenient for accessing the towel after getting out of the tub or shower. Finally, consider how many towels you would like to hang, fold, or roll on your rack and shelving.
