The Importance of Heating and Plumbing within the Home
Are you considering building a new home? If you are, you may be surprised at the number of choices you will have to make, from items such as the materials used in the flooring to the kind of heating system you will use.
A custom house build, in particular, may call for many more decisions to be made about the interior than you may be prepared for. If you are currently deciding about heating, radiators or even designer radiators may have been mentioned as one of your choices. Here are a few things to keep in mind when deciding if they are the right choice for you.
When deciding on what heating elements you are going to target, it should not be based on old fashioned, inefficient radiators from years past. The new radiators are much smaller, more efficient and more attractive than they were in the past. The choices available are created to cater for everyone’s taste, from the small and compact radiators to the new styled towel warmers and designer radiators which look more like art work and are less noticeable against their older counterparts.
Do you like the idea of being able to recycle your heating medium so that it can be reused? If so, you will like the idea of utilising radiators. The radiator works from pressurised water that is heated and then sent through the pipe work that consists throughout your home. This in turn makes the pipes heat up alongside the radiators, this then radiates heat in to the air that then heats up the home. The best factor being against the older fashioned hot air central heating systems and electric heaters is that the radiant heat provided by the radiator is a humid heat. This means that it does not dry the skin, nails and hair.
If you are targeting a more complex project such as building an apartment block rather than a home, radiators are one of the most cost effective measures for offering heating to tenants. There is no pressure to worry about individual furnaces, and the best factor with the radiator is that each one is simply linked to one central heating combination boiler. This also gives the tenant greater control over the temperature of their apartment. Radiators are extremely inexpensive to operate and maintain making it perfect for any environment.
The radiator gives you so much more control over your life. If you prefer to sleep in a cooler room than the rest of the rooms within your home or you may have rooms that are not used within your home, the radiator the perfect solution. The reason for this is because each radiator has a temperature control called a thermostatic valve which allows you to turn each individual radiators heat up, down or off. This in turn enables you to save money against your heating bills. Another factor is that unlike other heating systems the radiator is much easier to be introduced in to a central heating system.
However the radiator is all dependent on your personal preference. If you prefer a hot air heating system the radiator obviously is not the right choice. The central hot air unit uses a forced air furnace to move chilled air through a system of ducts which are situated throughout the home. This then enables the hot air to filter in to each room to warm the home. Because a house with radiators has neither of these, a central hot air unit is not something that you can use. If you are okay with the idea of a window mounted air conditioner or you do not have any interest in cooling your home, you can enjoy the advantages that a radiator can give you.
A decade ago radiators all used to look the same or similar to each other. This has changed dramatically over the last few years, where we are now inundated with modern radiators and designer styled radiators that are able to transform the look and feel of a room.
