IGNOU, Honghe University ink deal for ICT allowed education
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), School of Foreign Language (SOFL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University Honghe (UH) in China to offer degree and diploma courses at university level and post- degree. The focus is on research and development with the use of ICT in education and interactive multimedia distance learning delivery.
The MoU was signed by Mr. U. S Tolia Registrar, IGNOU and Prof. Peng Qiang, Chinese Vice President Hu in the meeting room of the office of rector of the university.
According to the MoU, objectives and concerns is to recognize the common goals of higher education and training to enable people to participate effectively in national development. The pact should establish a network for cooperation in higher education through distance learning.
Professor G. Chaudhuri, Director, introduced the members of the delegation SOFL Mandarin and translated into English for all members of the faculty of IGNOU. He stressed the close collaboration of academic and IGNOU HU head to breathing and asked for a Chinese teacher to teach Chinese IGNOU. He also announced that a delegation of current programs, IGNOU offers Chinese language and culture.
Pro VC, IGNOU, Prof. PR Ramanujam, also briefed the delegation on HU was signed three MoUs with Chinese universities, and he mentioned the possibility of great potential for such academic cooperation, not only in economic but tourism and culture as well.
Prof. Peng Qiang, Vice President Hu said: “We look forward to a teacher and a student exchange program with the IGNOU focuses not only on English as a subject, but the Chinese Science and management as well. With a phased approach, we also want students to exchange management programs and keeping roads open to other disciplines such as economics, financial management and international trade. Thailand and Vietnam projects as a teacher and student exchange we also want to develop with the IGNOU. ”
Pro-VC, IGNOU, suggested Dr. Latha Pillai, the importance of teacher training is one of the areas to be explored for cooperation between the two universities.
