Skin Tags Home Remedies, Fibroepithelial Polyps Herbal Cures
Skin tags, also known as fibroepithelial polyps, soft fibromas, or achrocordons, are benign and painless skin growths. They are usually fresh-colored, but can sometimes be dark brown. These skin growths may have a stalk attaching them to the skin surface. It is believed that friction is the main reason for the occurrence of skin tags. They are mainly caused by the rubbing of the skin against clothing or against another skin surface and typically occur on the eyelids, neck, or underarm. It also appear in skin folds, such as beneath the breasts and groin area.
Tags tend to develop in midlife. It has been noted that overweight people and those with diabetes are more prone to this problem. These growths are usually harmless and not malignant. However, if you have multiple tags, you must notify your doctor, as it may indicate an underlying medical condition like polycystic ovary syndrome. Even though skin tags are not dangerous, they can be cosmetically unappealing and can cause discomfort by rubbing against your clothes or jewelry. There are several conventional methods for treating this problem, including liquid nitrogen freezing, electrical burning, and surgical excision. Home remedies for this problem are also an effective way to get rid of these skin growths.
Before your start taking home remedies, it is wise to consult with a doctor to make sure that your skin growth is a tag and not a malignant mass. A simple but effective way to remove skin tag is to apply your nail polish on the effected area two times a day. After cleaning the area, cover your tag completely with nail polish. Let the polish dry on the tag. This stops oxygen supply to the tag, which can lead to the falling off of it. A duct tape can also be used to get rid of these skin growths. Cut a piece of duct tape big enough to wrap around the skin tag and place it over the tag. You should change the duct tape when it starts to come loose. If the skin tag is still there, apply a new piece of duct tape. Repeat this until the tag drops off completely. This is one the safest and natural methods to treat this problem.
Apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil are good home remedies. Dip a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and put it over the skin tag. Allow it to sit there for about fifteen minutes and then clean the area with warm water. Continue to do this until the skin tag is destroyed. It can also be removed by rubbing tea tree oil on the affected area three times a day. Garlic is another natural cure for removing tags. Place a slice of garlic over the skin tag and secure it in place with a tape or gauze. It is recommended to apply the garlic in the morning and remove it before bedtime. Applying a mixture of castor oil and baking soda three times daily may help eliminate tags.
