Amoxicillin Treats Tonsillitis Bacterial Infections
Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils most commonly caused by viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms of tonsillitis include sore throat and fever. While no treatment has been found to shorten the duration of viral tonsillitis, bacterial causes are treatable with antibiotics.
Common symptoms of tonsillitis include: red and/or swollen tonsils, white or yellow patches on the tonsils, tender, stiff, and/or swollen neck, sore throat, painful or difficult swallowing, cough, headache, sore eyes, body aches, earache, fever, chills, nasal congestions
Acute tonsillitis is caused by both bacteria and viruses and will be accompanied by symptoms of ear pain when swallowing, bad breath, and drooling along with sore throat and fever. In this case, the surface of the tonsil may be bright red like an explosion or have a grayish-white coating that looks disturbing, while the lymph nodes in the neck may be swollen.
Tonsilloliths occur in up to 10% of the population frequently due to tonsillitis.
The most common causes of tonsillitis are the common cold viruses (adenovirus, rhinovirus, influenza, coronavirus, respiratory syncytial virus)
The second most common causes are bacterial. The most common bacterial cause is Group A β-hemolytic streptococcus (GABHS), which causes strep throat.
Less common bacterial causes include: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae, pertussis, Fusobacterium, diphtheria, syphilis, and gonorrhea
If the tonsillitis is caused by group A streptococus, then antibiotics are useful with penicillin or Amoxicillin being first line.
Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic which a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Amoxicillin is a 4-hydroxyl analogue of ampicillin. The medication is used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.
Amoxil is a versatile antibiotic, which renders bacteriolytic (blasting bacteria) action.It is active concerning a wide spectrum aerobic (developing only in the oxygen environment only) and anaerobic (capable to exist (breathe) in absence of oxygen) gram-positive and aerobic microorganisms, including the the ferment, which destroys Penicillinums). The special acid provides the fastness of Amoxicillin to the influence of ferments, dilating a spectrum of its action
It is treating:
Infections of the middle ear, nose and throat
Infections of the tonsils, throat, and larynx (laryngitis)
Infections of the bronchi (bronchitis) and lungs (pneumonia)
Possible negative effects
The following side effects can be observed when taking Amoxil:
Allergic reactions (urticaria, erythema, rhinitis, conjunctivitis; Fever, joint pains, eosinophilia – very rare);
Digestive tube disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoeia).
