Vauxhall Insignia, make for the UK

The Vauxhall Insignia was unveiled at the 2008 British International Motor show, which was held at the Excel centre in Docklands. The 2008 show marked the last British Motor Show, the historic Earls Court Motor show no longer takes place, which for British car enthusiasts is a massive shame. An interesting fact I learnt only recently is that the Insignia is only badged as a Vauxhall specifically for the UK market.

The Insignia is produced by Opel, a subsidiary of the GM Group – across Europe the Insignia is badged as an Opel. In other countries around the world it is sold under various GM Group brands, such as Chevrolet in Chile and Buick in China.

For the UK market the now, somewhat used Vauxhall is available with an array of engines options, fulfilling most requirements and lifestyles. In the petrol range there is a 1.4 litre, a 1.6 litre, a 1.8 litre, a 2.0 litre and a 2.8 Litre V6. all the petrol engines have a turbo charger except for the 1.8 litre which has been carried over from the Vauxhall Vectra. Even the small 1.4 litre comes with an impressive 138 bhp, the 1.6 comes with 177 bhp and the 2.0 litre comes with 217 bhp. The non turbo 1.8 comes with 138 bhp and the mighty 2.8 V6 comes with 321 bhp! There are two 2.0 litre diesel engines to choose from with either 128 or 158 bhp.

The Insignia has been a successful model for Opel/Vauxhall, in its for year of being on sale it was voted European Car of the Year. In the same year the Vauxhall Insignia became the UK’s 9th bestselling car, beating its fierce rival the Ford Mondeo. There are many good examples of the used Vauxhall Insignia in Gloucester and ex fleet models are always entering the used car market – so grab yourself a bargain!
