Four Ways to Tell if Your Loved One Needs Alcohol Rehab

The subject of alcohol rehab is never an easy one. No one wants to feel like they need it, and it can be extremely difficult telling your loved one that he or she needs alcohol rehab. However, if you see any of these four warning signs, then it is definitely time to start figuring out how to broach the subject.

  1. Drinking alone
One of the biggest warning signs to watch out for is drinking alone because usually it is something that is done socially. If your loved one spends a lot of time drinking alone and/or hiding how much they drink, then it is definitely time to start talking to them about alcohol rehab.
  2. Drinking for the wrong reasons
Another sign that alcohol addiction is a possibility is if the person drinks for the wrong reasons. For example, if he drinks after work every day because it was stressful, this might be a sign that he is addicted to alcohol. People who drink first thing in the morning to get rid of a hangover might also have a serious drinking problem and need alcohol rehab.
  3. Having relationship trouble because of alcohol
Sometimes people who drink too much begin to alienate their family and friends. They may get tired of hearing about how they have a drinking problem and begin to push you away. Drinking can also cause behavior that is more violent, which can also drive people away.
  4. Drinking more alcohol than in the past and/or having a high tolerance to alcohol
When anyone gets to the point where they need more alcohol to get that ‘buzz’ they want, then it is a sign that they are becoming addicted. Frequent black-outs associated with drinking can also be a sign of alcohol addiction, so study the person’s daily activities to figure out if they do definitely need alcohol rehab.

Alcohol rehab is the only way to get clean after a life of addiction. It is certainly an uphill battle that no one should have to travel alone, and your loved one will eventually be thankful that you are there to help, even if he or she isn’t expressing that thanks right now.
