Top 3 Superminis sold include Vauxhall Corsa

We all know that there is an economic downturn and just recently it was announced that the sale of new cars had slumped during the month of September. Overall there has not been much good news for the economy but a recent publication of best selling cars reported that Ford Fiesta sales are flying. This was followed closely by the Ford Focus and the  Vauxhall Corsa Worcester.

The Ford Fiesta is the best selling car, year to date and in the month of September.  During the year, the car has seen sales of 77,198 units and in the month of September 15,647 Fiesta models were sold. Maybe it is Ford’s current offer on the Fiesta which is selling. The Ford Fiesta Studio is available from £8,995 on the road and there is also a competitive finance promotion available with a 4.9% APR. Attractive offer. The Ford Fiesta is also one of five of the cheapest cars to insure in the UK and consequently it attracts a lot of younger drivers.

A good month for Ford, the Ford Focus model sold 14,754 units. It is the popular larger “sibling” of the Ford Fiesta and is available from a starting price of £13,995. There is a current battle between the two car models for the title of “Best Selling Car 2011”, although the Fiesta is currently 10,000 units ahead of the Focus.

The new Vauxhall Corsa came in at third place selling 14,339 cars during the month of September. It is interesting that the top three selling cars are all small models and these sales support current reports stating that superminis account for nearly 40% of all sales.

Watch this space for next months figures.
