Their Intensive mandarin Classes are offered 25 hours a week at all levels with only six to ten students in each class. The classes focus on developing the four main language skills including speaking, listening, reading and writing although each will have its own emphasis. Each aspect of your learning experience will be focused on with your study abroad in China at Sino Language. For the beginner, tone differentiation, pronunciation, and survival language skill will be the focus while the elementary level courses emphasize listening and speaking and vocabulary developing. For those with a little more experience, intermediate courses will teach you vocabulary developing and reading while advanced courses focus on writing and culture understanding. A variety of teaching methods are used to target different age groups and levels and they include lecture, spoken practice, role-playing, games, quiz, review, debate, group work and journal discussion.
Your study abroad in China will allow you to learn from one-on-one personal language tutoring. In addition to daily core Mandarin classes, SLG has also arranged 1 to 1.5 hour one-on-one personal tutoring each day to help participants get the most from their learning experience. There is a wide range of cultural classes that are provided in the afternoons that include Chinese history and geography, Chinese martial arts, traditional brush painting, calligraphy, engraving, paper-cutting, Chinese cooking and more. The experience will also include after class activities, sightseeing and visits, and a culture enhancing trip.
