Sash windows or hung sash windows are made of one or more movable panels called sashes that form a frame to hold panes of glass. The term sash windows is used almost exclusively to refer to windows where the glazed panels are opened by sliding vertically. The sliding sash windows use weights which are concealed in a box case.
