Known as the first and oldest American school in Europe, the American School of Paris (ASP) takes pride in a tradition of learning and teaching that combines strong academics, music, arts and community service. It is a private, co-educational day school situated in Saint-Cloud, a suburb of Paris. Since its establishment in 1946, ASP has focused on the needs of international students and has built reputation for being a welcoming and nurturing school. Its campus covers the area of 10 acres and is known as one of the largest international schools in Paris region. The school has three main sections: Lower School, Middle School and Upper School, and has various student facilities in many buildings. The Upper School provides quality education to over 350 students from 50 countries and offers Advanced Placement and the American High School Diploma. As an IB World School, ASP has been providing the International Baccalaureate for over 30 years. Aside from AP and IB classes, the American School of Paris also offers many exciting athletic programs and elective options. The Lower School provides an engaging curriculum and focuses on instilling the joy of learning in young students by offering an environment that challenges and supports a child’s development.

A resident of the United Kingdom, Xavier Thoma was educated internationally. He commenced his primary/secondary schooling from Charlotte Country Day School in North Carolina (US), and then attended American School of Paris to complete his secondary education. He obtained his International Baccalaureate in 1992, and thereafter he enrolled at Oxford University. He graduated from Oxford in 1996 with a Masters of Engineering degree in Engineering, Economics and Management.
