Capturing the exotic bio-diversity at Norway
Norway is to wild life photographers as Vatican City is for Catholics. It is hard to escape the bewitching charm that this Scandinavian country offers to us. I have been visiting the place since last four years regularly, but it still seems my camera is too incompetent to capture what my eyes do. I first came to Norway as an intern with one of the senior photographer working for a popular wildlife magazine.
We got down at TOS, the northern Norway Airport and were picked up by our hired car from Bilutleie (car rental services) that was to serve our stay in the beautiful country of Norway. I was completely knocked out by the spotless beauty of Hamna, when we decided to drive ahead. (Apparently my senior was too impatient to start his work).
As we drove in our Leiebil , I realized the spectacularand beautiful landscapes aren’t the only visual treats for photography fans in Northern Norway. The area has a very rich bio-diversity. Interestingly the total number of species in Norway includes 16,000 species of insects alone. As my senior guided me through the bio-diverse area, he told me there are as many as 450 species of birds out of which 250 species nest in Norway itself. There are in total 90 species of mammals, 45 fresh-water species of fish and 150 salt-water species of fish. What else could I have asked for?
Soon we were at the bird’s kingdom; it was early morning- the right time to capture birds. Holding our cameras, we lay hidden on the face of Norwegian earth; ready to capture beautiful White-tailed and Golden Eagles, gray owls and Falcons with their open wings stretched apart. Vallah! It was an experience so breathtaking. (I get goose bumps every time I think of it that being my first experience remains fresh in my memories).
As the day advanced, we took a drive in bilutleie towards the territories of more powerful arctic foxes, polar bears, wolves, lemmings, lynx and reindeers. It took us around fifteen to twenty days to complete the assignment. We captured fabulous pictures of these animals in their natural habitats.
Though, our port folio looked complete, having captured beautiful pictures of our natural associates in their natural niche and was appreciated by all. I knew, Norway was worth a re-visit. Well! That thought of re-visit still clings so deep in my soul that here I am, visiting Norway for the fourth time and my soul is still not contended.
Car rental Bilutleie I find is a perfect solution for people like us. Cost of car rental Leiebil may seem a bit too high in comparison of public transportation, but trust me it is worth spending some money on a service that ensures on-time arrivals and departures. It is any day better than buying a lemon. No break-downs, no strikes, no price hikes and no more wastage of time. In fact so many new car rental agencies that offer cheap car rentals seem to me like a real icing on the cake.
