Hyundai EON, the new entrant in small car segment
Hyundai India recently launched its most anticipated hatchback car named Hyundai EON in Indian auto segment. Since its launched, car got great response from car buyers in India and record a mind-blowing booking of 13,000 units. In addition to these company also plans to introduce a new small car model developed on the “fluidic” platform by the next year Auto Expo in Delhi. Company also aims to sell around 1.5 lakh units of EON every year. Initially company only launched its petrol variant.
Hyundai launched EON in six different variants that are Hyundai EON D Lite, D Lite Optional which are the base variants, EON Magma and Magma optional are the mid variants whereas EON Sportz and Era are placed in the list of top end variants. The high lending rates and volatile petrol prices in India might affect the sales of Hyundai EON. Hence, it’s quite possible that Hyundai motors soon come with a diesel and LPG variant of EON in Indian auto market. Hyundai EON LPG recently caught in cameras during its test runs on the roads of Chennai. It is expected that Hyundai will launch LPG variant of hatchback by the next year 2012. Hyundai EON price in India for the base variant is tagged at Rs. 2.69 lakh and for the top variant it is priced at Rs. 3.71 lakhs.
Hyundai EON review comes excellent with its fuel economy and features. The small hatchback is powered by an 814 cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine which is capable of generating a peak power of 56 bhp at 5,500 RPM and maximum torque of 76 Nm at 4,000 rpm. All the six variants are coupled with six speed manual transmission gearbox which accelerates the car from zero to 100 in just 21.1 seconds. The car is capable of maintaining a top speed of 135 Kmpl. With ARAI certification, car offers an excellent fuel efficiency of 17.3 Kmpl in the city and 21.1 Kmpl on the highways which is higher in compare to Maruti Alto which offers a top mileage of 20.2 Kmpl.
Eon interior comes with an integration of various gadgets like music stereo system, support for USB/AUX, power steering, power windows for the front, and airbag for the driver. The small hatchback Eon displays a much refreshing and modernized look than Santro and much more appealing than the Maruti Alto.
