Video Chat: A big part of our lives.
Internet as a mode and medium of communication, especially the way it is today, is something that was unimaginable till a few years ago, and associated services like video chat and free video chat were unimaginable! But then as of today, not only has Internet become one of the most widely accepted forms of communication, but it is the defacto standard as of now. And video calling and video chatting are now more like icing on a super sweet cake, and that too at no extra charges.
There was a definitive time when people had to go to great lengths to be able to communicate, especially if it were long distance. If we take an example of the times of Alexander Graham Bell the distance between the people communicating was not very large. The same followed even after the advent of the telephone and the introduction of other mediums of communication.
Video chatting was not required much until one room offices grew to multiple offices in the same building and then multiple offices cross city and cross country. People began to find it more and more difficult to travel for the Annual general meetings of the company and as and when offices started spreading over different countries, travelling not only became more difficult but also very tiring and involved wastage of large amounts of time and money.
The advent and progress of free video chat and video chatting has spread at unimaginable paces throughout the world, especially because video chatting and web conferencing can easily be done without stepping out of an office. All that is required is a computer with sound and webcam capabilities along with a high speed internet connection, and using these along with video chatting software’s is today enabling people to hold meetings with other colleagues from all over the world without even stepping out of their offices.
Taking an easy example, if a company has one office based in America, another office based in London and a third based in Austria, it will most probably have all the heads of the different offices fly into a pre-decided location for the annual meeting(s). This would probably involve the wastage of a lot of time, money, fatigue and such. On the other hand, if the heads of all these offices go to a video chatting provider, or initiate a free video chat from within their offices, then they have achieved all their requirements, conducted a meeting and that too without stepping out of their offices and spending a fraction of the normal expenditures!
